Intro
This workshop concept, created through the partnership of NOVA x Akdu Kitchen and Yeniden Mekan, was designed as a gamified social gathering that approaches shared mealtimes not merely as a necessity, but as a collective experience shaped by memory, identity, storytelling, and intuition. Conceived as a social event where participants bring their own dishes along with their kitchen stories to the table, wander intuitively through others’ plates, and come together around food, Sofra @ Bıçakçı Han takes place within the historic texture of the Historical Bıçakçı Han. With the unifying magic of cuisine and conversation, it becomes an unprecedented, gluten-free, modern daytime meal experience.
Shaped by the collaboration of NOVA x Akdu Kitchen and Yeniden Mekan, this workshop views moments of eating together not simply as a necessity, but as a collective experience built upon memory, identity, narrative, and intuition. Here, the table is not just a table; it is where the story begins. With its gamified structure, this gathering transforms food into a social ritual and conversation into a shared narrative.
Taking place within the historic fabric of the Bıçakçı Han, Sofra @ Bıçakçı Han was designed as a gluten-free, modern, one-time evening dinner experience that centers the unifying power of the kitchen and conversation.
Event Programme
1. Welcome & Introduction (30 minutes)
Explanation of the concept, presentation of gluten-free Turkish cuisine, introduction of the “Reimagined Space” concept, table seating, and tasting rules.
2. Table Tasting & Guessing Game (2 hours)
Dishes are tasted at four-person tables. Participants write down the ingredients they guess for each dish on paper. The person with the most correct guesses becomes the table winner. Prizes are presented to the table winners at the end of the evening.
3. Snack Service (1 hour)
Free conversation and social interaction after the game.
4. Closing & Winners (30 minutes)
Announcement of table winners, a brief evaluation, and a collective closing.
